Volunteers needed - Have fun and help the coast!
Line in the Sand are the charity Partner for this year’s Margaret River Ultra Marathon and are helping to find volunteers to help out with the running of the event. Rapid Ascent will donate to Line in the Sand $100 for each half day volunteer, and $200 for each full day volunteer, and the proceeds will help us continue our work in the Margaret River Region. https://margaretriver.rapidascent.com.au/event-details/overview/line-in-the-sand/. Volunteers roles vary and Rapid Ascent promises a great day for those who help out, with the satisfaction of helping the local coastline too!
WHEN?
The event is on Saturday 6 May, with event check in and volunteers needed from Friday 5 May at Howard Park Winery.
HOW LONG DO I NEED TO HELP FOR?
We will very gratefully accept any assistance that is offered – be it for a few hours on Friday evening or race morning through to a day sweeping course after the runners to make sure no one is left behind. We are happy to work around your availability. Payment to Line in the Sand is pro rata.
WHAT TYPES OF ROLES ARE THERE?
Volunteer roles vary and we are very happy to match you up to the type of role that you want to do. Roles vary between sitting and helping with registration, physically setting up infrastructure, manning water points for runners, marshalling on the course, helping run a checkpoint or being based at the start / finish line helping ensure that runners are ok. We will allocate your role according to your experience, interest area and availability.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT IN RETURN FOR MY TIME?
Rapid Ascent will donate $200 per day or $100 per half day of volunteer time to Line in the Sand. To receive the donation the volunteer must note they are associated with Line in the Sand when they register. Rapid Ascent also provides lunch/snack packs that day and makes sure that you are fully informed and know what to do with an allocated team leader to supervise you on the day and any equipment needed for your role. And… guarantee you’ll have a great day!
LOCATION AND TIMES: The following volunteer time spots are available
Fri 5th May: Registration at Howard Park Wines from approx. 2.30pm – 6.30pm
Sat 6th May:
· Boranup Campground from approx. 0630 – 1000
· Contos Campground from approx. 0830 – 1230
· Riflebutts Reserve approx. 1030 – 1630 (or part thereof)
· Gracetown Beach approx. 12 midday – 8pm (or part thereof)
· Howard Park Wines from approx. 1.00pm – 10.00pm (or part thereof)
REGISTER AS A VOLUNTEER

· Note you are volunteering on behalf of Line in the Sand Group
· Preferred location/time slot and/or any special skill set you may have eg. keen runner, marshalling, admin, seated role etc.
After the 27th of April Rapid Ascent they will collate the information and then send out detailed information to each volunteer with specific information about their actual role.
