Margaret River Ultra Marathon
Line in the Sand is pleased to announce they are the charity partner of the Rapid Ascent Margaret River Ultra Marathon.
The sold out event is scheduled for 6 May 2023 and involves 80 kilometres of magnificent trail running through our beautiful south west region.
As part of the partnership, Rapid Ascent will donate $200 to Line in the Sand for each volunteer who signs up from our network. Volunteering could take the form of registering participants on the evening before the event, to being a course marshal along the beautiful track. From an hour or two, to a whole day, all volunteers are welcome and will help to raise money to protect and restore our incredible coastline.

Rapid Ascent take the environmental impact of their events very seriously and have partnered with Line in the Sand to help raise money, educate their followers and make an impact on a landscape they love and cherish.
We have been liaising with Rapid Ascent regarding the environmental impact of the race and are impressed with the steps they have taken to ensure it is a responsible and low impact event:
The course sticks to pre-made tracks and is approved by the National Parks and private properties along the trail.
Print material and potential waste has been minimised with competitors no longer receiving a showbag of flyers / promotional gifts and a t-shirt only on request.
Drinks stations do not have plastic cups, competitors must BYO water bottle.
Food stations on the course serve homemade food served from a tray rather than pre-packaged items.
Food vendors at the conclusion of the event are required to serve food in sustainable packaging and containers.
A sweep of the course is completed after the competitors have gone through to pick up any accidental rubbish – this is one of the jobs for volunteers.
