Volunteer Call-out!
Line in the Sand is calling for volunteers! If you can spare some time over a weekend in May, join us at the Margaret River Ultra and contribute to local environmental projects in the process.
The Margaret River Ultra Marathon will be held over two days on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 May. Race organisers Rapid Ascent take the environmental impact of their events very seriously and have partnered with Line in the Sand for the second year to help raise money, educate their followers and make an impact on a landscape they love and cherish.
This partnership provides Line in the Sand with an opportunity to raise money for our programs in the region. Rapid Ascent will donate to LITS $100 for each half day volunteer and $200 for each full day volunteer that we introduce to them.
Volunteer tasks include directing runners in and out of aid stations, manning aid stations, competitor registrations, helping at the Howard Park finish line, “sweeping” and checking the course. Shift times are flexible depending on your availability, and you can nominate your preferred location and role - see some options below.
Friday 10 May
Howard Park – assisting with competitor rego between 2.30pm – 7.00pm
Saturday 11 May
Boranup Campground Aid station between 0630 – 1000
Contos Campground Aid station between 0830 – 1300
Riflebutts Reserve Aid station between 1030 – 1600
Gracetown Beach Aid station between 12 midday – 1930 (or part thereof)
Howard Park Finish line between 12 midday – 2100 ( or part there of)
Sunday 12 May
Yallingup beach for start and Aid station 0730 – 0930
Wyadup Road end Aid station 0830 – 1030
Moses Rocks Aid Station 0930 – 1230
Juniper Rd Aid Station 1000 – 1400
Howard Park finish line 0800 – 1600 (or part thereof)
Volunteers are provided with snack/lunch packs and all instructions and equipment needed for the role. Plus it’s a fun day and a great opportunity to cheer on family and friends who are participating in the race!
