Toby Inlet Restoration
After raising much needed funds to help rehabilitate Toby Inlet via the launch of The Rising pale ale late last year, the legends from Rocky Ridge Brewing recently joined members from Toby Inlet Catchment Group (TICG) to get their hands dirty and help plant over 1200 native seedlings along the fragile Toby Inlet foreshore and coastal dunes.
The tree planting event, funded by Line in the Sand and managed by TICG committee member and botanist Helen Duff, fits in with the bigger Dunsborough Foreshore Management Plan and Toby Inlet Water Management Plan by the City of Busselton. A higher survival rate of the seedlings is expected thanks to the purchase of a new water cart (also funded by LITS) to be used for irrigation during summer.
“We really enjoyed our time out with the Toby Inlet Catchment team. Not only did we manage to plant a lot of trees, we also made it happen in a short period of time with many hands making light work. All of our staff got their hands dirty and we managed to break up into teams so we had our team building covers, organising mulch barrows, planting and fertilising. We can't wait to take part in the tree planting days well into the future.” Ricky, Rocky Ridge Brewing.
The Rising raised nearly $20K worth of funds for Line in the Sand and supported the revegetation of the fragile Toby Inlet foreshore by facilitating the supply of seedlings, fertiliser, mulch and planting guards. Physically assisting with the rehabilitation project, as well as contributing financially, ensures the Rocky Ridge team can see first-hand the impact their support of Line in the Sand has, and they can check-in on the progress of the Toby Inlet project as the vegetation grows.
Thank you to @rockyridgebrewing for your support of Line in the Sand and this important project. We can’t wait for our next collaboration with the South West Brewers Alliance so we can continue to protect and restore our incredible South West coastline.
