GCBC's Feral Animal Management Project
The first stage of the Gracetown Cowaramup Bay Community feral animal management program got under way last Sunday morning.
The GBCB, with funding from Line in the Sand and support from Astron, have installed 5 cameras to monitor native wildlife and feral animal numbers in the Cowaramup Bay area. The cameras have solar powered batteries and sim cards to upload images daily to a web-based monitoring service that sorts the images and helps to identify the animals.
An irresistible combination of peanut butter, oats and fish oil attracts the animals close enough to catch on film!
Julian and Jess from Astron installed the cameras with a little help from GCBC's David and Anna, and David Martin from Line in the Sand.
We look forward to better understanding the feral animal problem in the Cowaramup Bay region, thanks to the data being collected through the project.
