What we do:

protect and rehabilitate the coast

  • Design and execute coastal rehabilitation field programs with volunteer groups and encourage local school participation via the “adopt-a-spot” program.

  • Partner with local action groups, including Nature Conservation Margaret River, Friends of Meelup Park, Toby Inlet Catchment Group, Dunsborough Coastal Care, as well as local schools and aboriginal custodians.

  • Our primary focus is on protection and rehabilitation of the coastline between Augusta and Busselton (Cape to Cape/Margaret River Region). We look to expand this region further over time.

climate mitigation and adaption

  • Conduct an annual Line in the Sand Coastal Care event with Surfing WA and the World Surf League alongside the Margaret River Pro Event to share progress and consider new initiatives (pre COVID the “Climate Action Summit” was the first incarnation).

  • We measure outcomes of Line in the Sand projects, reviewing and assessing model effectiveness and reporting back to members annually.

community awareness, education and Indigenous engagement

  • Develop tools to assist others to contribute and act

  • Partner with local businesses to develop collaborative fundraising products, events, and donation points

  • Consult Indigenous groups and develop a joint education/tourism “product” such as Coastal Connection Tours.

  • Develop community driven “Capes Coastal Pledge” for locals and visitors to self-govern coastal utilisation including surf spots, tracks, and beaches. Inspired by and consulting with the “Palau Pledge” creators.

  • Build Line in the Sand (LITS) to be the trusted environmental brand and model to which supporters can contribute, whilst establishing a fast and direct action “movement” that other regions can emulate.'
